Biographical

I was born in São Paulo, Brazil. My family lived in Tarrytown, NY for a few years but I spent most of my life in Roswell, a city in Georgia several miles outside of Atlanta.

In 1999 I graduated from Lassiter High School and began my undergraduate education at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta Georgia. I majored in Psychology. In my junior year I studied abroad in England at the London School of Economics and Political Science where I was to discover evolutionary psychology. I took two very formative year long courses during my year at the LSE, these were evolutionary psychology with Dr. Andrew Wells, and the psychoanalytic study of society with Dr. Christopher Badcock. Andrew Wells gave a decidedly unique perspective to evolutionary psychology through his training in computer science. Chris Badcock's eye opening course combined Freudian ideas with evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, and genetics. Upon arriving back in Atlanta for my senior year I decided that I wanted to do my graduate work in evolutionary psychology and set about garnering some research experience.

I did an internship for one year at the Language Research Center in Decatur Georgia with Dr. Charles Menzel collecting and organizing data and developing mapping tools for spatial cognition research in chimpanzees.

In May 2003 I graduated with a B.A. from Oglethorpe in Psychology and late that summer I moved to Austin, Texas to begin my graduate work in evolutionary psychology with Dr. David Buss.

I live in a condo I bought in 2004 with my roommate and two cats, Bug and Mazzie. In my spare time I like to do home improvements, jog, swim, study Portuguese and cook. In May 2008 I became vegan and have been learning to cook all sorts of amazing food ever since.
