Instructions on Using WS_FTP

 

You only need to use FTP if you are at home and trying to change files that are saved in your homepage folder, such as your personal webpage. 

 

If you do not have a program called WS_FTP on your home computer, you can download it for free from the internet at:

            http://www.ftpplanet.com/download.htm  Get the WS_FTP LE version.

 

Once you are in FTP, use the following information:

 

Profile Name:  Home

Host Name/Address:  homepage.psy.utexas.edu

Host Type:  Autodetect

User ID:  H#

Password:  your password

 

To navigate to the correct folders using FTP:

R side:  Go to Group, Honors, H#

L side:  Click on ChgDir in right corner of L hand screen.

                        Click c:/ in the window.

Find My Documents folder (may be under Documents and

Settings, or Start Menu).

                                    If you want to save it elsewhere, you’ll have to search for that file.

 

To copy index.html from homepage to My Documents at home:

                                    Navigate to the correct folders on both sides of the screen using the

above directions.                     

                                    On the right hand screen, click to highlight index.html

Then click on the left-pointing arrow.

           

To copy an updated index.html from My Documents to homepage:

Make sure you have saved it as index.html in My Documents at

home.

                                    Navigate to the correct folders on both sides of the screen using the

above instructions.

On the left hand screen, click to highlight index.html.

Then click on the right-pointing arrow.
