Jason Brunt

PhD.

Jason received a B.A. in psychology from the University of Maine in 1997. After spending two years as a database programmer in Dallas, TX, he entered the doctoral program at the psychology department of the University of Texas, completing his Master's work in the Fall of 2003. Jason also began work in the Cohen lab in the fall of 2003, researching early language development. He is particularly interested in the early development of referencing and symbolic skills. In the Echols lab (also at UT), he has completed research investigating individual differences in early speech perception and the relationship between differences in early speech perception and early speech production. Jason recently defended his dissertation on infant word learning and has thus successfully completed the doctoral program at UT.

After spending several years in Alaska and Maine as an avid snowboarder and backpacker, Jason has all but sworn off of snow, and has taken up swimming and tennis for recreation. His current favorite quote is: "If God wanted us to be vegetarian, then why'd He make animals out of meat?"
