The Child Development in Context Laboratory (CDCL) resides in the Institute for Mental Health Research at the University of Texas at Austin. Our research space is located on the second floor of Bellmont Hall and consists of a family meeting room, two testing rooms with attached observation rooms, a biospecimens collection room and office space.
Upon entering the Institute for Mental Health Research, you will find yourself in a general waiting room. From there, families may be taken to a family friendly meeting room, which is furnished with child friendly furniture and toys to keep young children occupied while parents talk with research asisstants and/or fill out paperwork. Across the hall, we have two testing rooms (one large and one small), each with an attached observation room. The larger testing room is equipped with child friendly tables & chairs, and remotely controlled videorecording equipment. The smaller testing room is equipped with a table and chairs, and a camcorder.
Nearby the testing and control rooms are a data processing room and behavioral coding room, and down the hall is a room in which we collect biological specimens (e.g.,cheek swabs).
The Institute for Mental Health Research also houses a large office space for graduate students and research personnel. All rooms are networked and equipped with state-of-the-art computers. For location and contact info of the CDCL, please click here.
