FAQ: Writing assignments and grades

1.     I can’t log into the writing assignment website. What can I do?

a.      Are you typing your last name and UT EID correctly?

b.     Are cookies enabled on your internet browser?

c.     Try accessing the writing assignment sign-in page from the main class website link.

d.     Try using a different internet browser or computer. Try using the one you used to complete a previous assignment.

2.     I don’t see my grade for the writing assignment I just completed. What went wrong?

a.      Are you looking at your score in eGradebook? eGradebook is a UT program independent of Blackboard. You can find it by signing into UTDirect and searching for “eGradebook”.

b.     Did you complete the assignment minutes or hours ago? Your writing assignment scores are updated manually. It could take up to a couple of days to record your score on eGradebook.

c.     Did you accidentally sign in to complete the writing assignment as a guest? If you clicked the guest box at the bottom of the writing assignment sign in page you will not get credit for the assignment. Resubmit your assignment on the website. Or, if you do not have an electronic copy of your assignment bring the printed copy to Meg Cason’s office hours: Wednesdays 1-2 and Thursdays 12-2  in SEA 3.314B.

d.     Was there an error while you were completing or submitting the assignment? Email Meg Cason <mjcason@mail.utexas.edu> with details about the error. Any information you can provide including: the time of the error, the step at which the error occurred, any error message, the internet browser you were using will help us solve the problem.

3.     What is the difference between the grades on Blackboard and the ones on eGradebook?

Assignments and test scores that count toward your grade in the class are listed in eGradebook, a program you can access through UTDirect. Results from class activities and questionnaires are listed in Blackboard’s grade program (the "Check Grades" button in blackboard). None of the items listed on the Blackboard grade program count toward your grade.
